  Australia Day Weekend, 2009 The Opening of the "Shed" cinema at Schaanwald. A select group will be entertained in the afternoon to 2 feature films (one Australian) . In the evening there will be a reception where drinks and a light supper will be served. (Persons from Melbourne desirous of attending should contact Garry - we are thinking of putting on a bus?) (The exact day to be advised) 
  December 16, 2008 Donald with Garry will attend the ACM Christmas Dinner at the Imperial Hotel, Melbourne.  
  December 12, 2008 Tony's birthday. (Advance notice is given so an expensive present can be put on lay-by). 
  December 5, 2008 Ted and Leon will make a State Visit to Schaanwald 
  November 23, 2008 Tony & Tom will make a State Visit to Schaanwald. In the evening, joined by Donald they will be entertained to dinner at Greg and Wayne's villa. 
  November 19, 2008 It is with profound sadness that we learn of the death last night in Sydney of Michael Pohlman. Michael was an avid fan of the theatre and thoroughly enjoyed his work which involved him with people travelling in aeroplanes. He did receive a remission from leukemia a few years back, but unfortunately it returned and ultimately took him. His bubbling presence will be missed. 
  November 14, 2008 Donald made a rare appearance in Melbourne when he attended the dinner of the Richmond Intellectuals Society at Silvio's. (Can you believe it was 1½ years since he was last at Silvio's!) Donald stayed overnight at Clissold. 
  November 14, 2008 We learn of the sad death of Patrick Gordon. Patrick was a lifelong friend of the Arts, heavily involved in Opera and Motion Picture Appreciation. Married for over 50 years to his soul-mate Vivien (who succumbed to Breast Cancer not so long back), Patrick was quiet, unassuming, a good friend and above all, a gentleman. He will be fondly remembered. 
  November 2, 2008 Garry & Yoshi together with Daph, Princess de Racquer-Router  made a State Visit to Schaanwald. In the evening this cast was joined by Wayne and Greg for a dinner at Schaanwald. (Photos are on Photo Page 9) 
  October 29, 2008 Donald entertained Wayne and Greg to morning coffee. 
  October 28, 2007 Donald attended a performance of the film "Burn After Reading" at the Regent Multiplex Cinemas, Ballarat. 
  October 22, 2008 Donald attended a performance of the film "Miss Pettigrew Lives For a Day" at the Regent Multiplex Cinemas, Ballarat. 
  October 15, 2008 Donald as a guest of Tony attended the first half of a performance of the musical "Wicked", at the Regent Theatre, Melbourne. Prior to the performance they had morning coffee at the Westin Hotel in Regent Place and after walking out of "Wicked" with headaches they had another coffee with cheeses at a bistrot next to the Atheneum. Donald travelled to Melbourne for the day courtesy of Victorian Railways. 
  September 20, 2008 Donald hosted a dinner at Schaanwald. Guests were (President) Raegan & (Prime Minister) Howard together with Garry & Yoshi from Clissold. 
  September 16, 2008 Donald's birthday. He hosted a small dinner at Schaanwald entertaining Tom & Tony and Wayne & Greg.

  August 29, 2008 Donald received the call of Wayne and Greg who were entertained to morning coffee. 
  August 12, 2008 Donald arrived in Melbourne and breakfasted together with Tony at the Royal Gleadall Café in beautiful downtown Richmond before both attended the Art Deco exhibition at the Arts Centre. In the afternoon they partook of tea at the Windsor Hotel after which Donald repaired to chez Tony before returning to Schaanwald in the evening.   
  August 9, 2008 Garry and Yoshi have returned after a fortnight's State Visit to Thailand. (Alan Rogers chaired the Clissold Regency Council during their absence)  
  August 5, 2008 Donald attended a performance of the film "The Bank Job" at the Regent Multiplex Cinemas, Ballarat.  
  July 29, 2008 Donald attended a performance of the film "The X Files 2 - I Want to Believe" at the Regent Multiplex Cinemas, Ballarat.  
  July 24, 2008 Tony holidayed in Queensland for a fortnight.  
  July 16, 2008 Donald attended a performance of the German film "The Counterfeiters" at the Regent Multiplex Cinemas, Ballarat.  
  July 7, 2008 Donald attended with Garry an ACM Dinner at the Naval & Military Club, Melbourne. Donald was a guest overnight at Clissold.

  July 6, 2008 Donald received the call of John and Fatur who were entertained to morning coffee.  
  July 4, 2008 Donald attended the July Rabelais dinner held at Poon's Chinese Restaurant in Foot-is-gray. Photos of the event can be found at:- http://rabelaismelbourne.spaces.live.com/ . Prior to this he was graciously invited to attend pre-dinner drinks at Paul's in Seddon. Donald was a guest overnight at Clissold. (Donald's travelling arrangements were handled by Victorian Railways).  
  June 26, 2008 Donald and Tony attended a performance by Antal Szalai and his Magyar Gypsy Orchestra at Her Majesty's Theatre, Ballarat. Tony was a guest overnight at Schaanwald.

  June 5, 2008 Donald attended a dinner at "Rinaldo's", Sturt Street Ballarat together with Wayne and Greg. This was followed by liquers and coffee at "The Europa Cafe"

After an inspection of the premises morning coffee and cake were served. Lunch was partaken of at "The Haze" restaurant and cafe, Buninyong before the vice-regal party returned to Melbourne  
  May 27, 2008 Donald attended a performance of the film "Indiana Jones - The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" at the Regent Multiplex Cinemas, Ballarat.  
  May 13, 2008 Donald received the call of Alan Rogers en route from Adelaide to Melbourne

Mr. Rogers was entertained to tea.

 In the evening Donald and Alan dined at the Crown Hotel, Buninyong    
  May 10, 2008 Ian made a State Visit to Schaanwald.  Buninyong. On Saturday Donald and Ian dined at "Haze" restaurant, Buninyong The remainder of Ian's engagements were at Schaanwald.

  March 22, 2008 Tony was a guest of "Schaanwald" at Easter. On Tony's arrival Saturday, by courtesy of Victorian Railways both Donald and Tony partook of afternoon tea at "Nieder Weisel".   January 23, 2008 Sad news comes to us from the United Kingdom. Reg Hedger has died at the age of 76 at his home in Brighton. Reg was a good friend to a number of us here in Australia, he having visited here a number of times over the past twenty years. In turn we have visited him in England and enjoyed his wonderful hospitality. He was full of life, charming and above all a gentlemen. He will be sorely missed.  
             
  January 15, 2008 Alan has returned to Melbourne, permanently again it is believed - well at least until he moves back to Adelaide.  
  January 10, 2008 Tony made a State Visit to "Schaanwald"

  December 21, 2007 Alan from Adelaide made a fleeting weekend dash to Melbourne to attend a dinner at "Silvios". (He has quashed all rumours of a permanent return, until perhaps he next changes his mind.)  
  December 15, 2007 Peter celebrated his achievement of three score years and ten at "Barkley Farm", Carlton  
  December, 2007 Tony & Tom made a State Visit to Queensland visiting Brisbane, Warwick and the Gold Coast.  
  November 13, 2007 Tony and Tom made a state visit to "Schaanwald". In the evening they were guests to dinner along with Greg and Wayne.  
  November 6, 2007 Yoshi returned to "Clissold" after a brief visit to Japan.  
  November 2, 2007 Auntie Daph had a quick stopover at "Clissold" en route to the "Hacienda del Rio" after making a short visit to New Zealand..

  October 23, 2007 Donald attended a performance of the film "Death at a Funeral" at the Regent Multiplex Cinemas, Ballarat.  
  October 7, 2007 John ("Scarlet") O'Toole  late of "Tara" Coogee and latterly of Cooma N.S.W., died after a long illness. Mr. O'Toole was a bon vivant, raconteur, racing identity, accounting entrepreneur, thespian, musical comedy star and ship steward amongst many other interests. Mr. O'Toole had the foresight to have organised his own wake last year, an occasion at which he lavishly entertained a multitude of friends.  
  September , 2007 Yoshi and Garry made State Visits to Cooma, N.S.W., and Brisbane and the Gold Coast Qld.,  
  September 18, 2007 Donald entertained Grey and Wayne to morning "Kaffeeklatsch"  
  September 4, 2007 Donald attended a performance of the film "The Bourne Ultimatum" at the Regent Multiplex Cinemas, Ballarat.  
  September 3, 2007 Donald received the call of Alan prior to his appointment as Ambassador Plenipotentiary Extraordinary of Schaanwald to Adelaide.  
  August 26th, 2007 Tony and Tom made a state visit to Schaanwald and for a luncheon consisting of a Thai banquet which Tom very kindly prepared.  
  August 20th, 2007 Donald attended an ACM luncheon at the Kelvin Club, Melbourne with Garry. The guest speaker was Dr. Ann Twomey. Afterwards Garry and Donald were entertained at a wine bar in Bridge Road Richmond before dining at "Silvio's" in the evening with Pam and Alan - the subject of conversation being the correct email address to utilise when corresponding with Alan.  
  August 7th, 2007 Donald attended a performance of the film "Driving Lessons" at the Regent Multiplex Cinemas, Ballarat.  
  August 4th, 2007 Donald  & Tony attended a performance of the film "The Phantom of the Opera" accompanied on the Wurlitzer organ by David Johnstone at the Regent Theatre, Collins Street, Melbourne.  
  July 31st, 2007 Donald attended a performance of the film "Harry Potter and the Flight of the Phoenix" at the Regent Multiplex Cinemas, Ballarat.  
  July 25th, 2007 Donald attended a dinner at "Prospects"  The Training Restaurant at the Ballarat University Campus.  
  July 21st, 2007 Donald breakfasted with Tony before returning to Schaanwald  
  July 20th, 2007 Donald journeyed to Melbourne to attend a 'conference' at "Silvio's" in the evening. He was a guest at Clissold.  (Photographs of the event are in Photo Gallery No. 6)  
  July 3rd, 2007 Donald attended a performance of the film "Ocean's 13" at the Regent Multiplex Cinemas, Ballarat.  
  June 23rd, 2007 Donald attended a luncheon generously hosted by Greg and Wayne.  
  June 22nd, 2007 Donald attended a dinner of the "Munchies" group at "Rinaldo's" Restaurant, Sturt Street, Ballarat        
  June 14th, 2007 Donald was in Melbourne attending a court case.  
  June 9th, 2007 Mark hosted a gala housewarming extravaganza at his new abode.  
  June 8th, 2007 Donald attended a dinner in the evening at the Army & Navy Club, Melbourne in aid of the Australians for Constitutional Monarchy. The guest speaker was the Hon. Tony Abbot MP. (Donald stayed overnight at the Club before returning to Schaanwald on Saturday morning).  
  June 5th, 2007 Donald attended a performance of the film "Pirates of the Caribbean at the end of the World" at the Regent Multiplex Cinemas, Ballarat.  
  June 3rd, 2007 Tony & Tom motored up from Melbourne during the morning in time for a light luncheon at Schaanwald. In the afternoon Donald gave the company a conducted tour of interesting sights in Buninyong and Ballarat. This took 3 minutes with an hour's driving time. In the evening Donald entertained his guests to dinner at the Victoria Room of Doherty's Ballarat Lodge. Tony & Tom returned to Melbourne early Sunday morning.  
     
  May 27th, 2007 Donald attended the "Happy Birthday Compton", cinema organ concert in the afternoon at "Her Majesty's Theatre", Ballarat. (See a full report in "Ponderings")  
  May 26th 2007 Ian was in town at the weekend and didn't attend the usual Friday at "Silvios" but managed to get to Jon's 60th birthday celebrations.  
  May 19th, 2007 Donald arrived at Clissold in the afternoon.  In the evening he dined at the Thomas Street Palace before attending a soireé  musicale at Craig's in the evening. He stayed overnight at Clissold and had breakfast at Tony's before he returned to Schaanwald Sunday morning. (Donald travels by V/Line railways)  
    Donald photographed with world famous opera singer Merlyn Quaife who presented a programme at Craig's soireé.        
  May 4th, 2007 Donald thought he was to sample the big band and swing sound of a live orchestra evening at "Rinoldo's", Sturt Street, Ballarat, instead he was entertained by a crooner singing to a recorded background, however there was pleasant company.  
  April 30th, 2007 Donald, Garry & Yoshi left Schaanwald for Melbourne in the morning. Together they partook of luncheon at "Silvios" in Richmond. In the evening Donald attended a meeting after which he motored home to Schaanwald.  
  April 29th, 2007 Donald, Garry & Yoshi motored to Daylesford in the late morning and partook of luncheon there before returning to Schaanwald mid-afternoon.  
       
  April 28th, 2007 Donald entertained Garry & Yoshi on a State Visit to Schaanwald for the weekend. In the evening  dinner was partaken of at "Haze" restaurant, Buninyong.  
     
     
           
  April 27th, 2007 Donald attended a dinner of the "Munchies" group at the Eureka Pizza & Restaurant, Sturt Street, Ballarat  
       
  April 18th, 2007 Robert & Adrian to leave Schaanwald.  
  April 17th, 2007 Donald attended a performance of the film "Sunshine" at the Regent Multiplex Cinemas, Ballarat.  
  April 11th, 2007 Donald attended a performance of the film "Are We Done Yet" at the Regent Multiplex Cinemas, Ballarat. (This was merely to fill in a couple of hours whilst waiting for the car to be fixed).  
  April 7th, 2007 Tony departed Schaanwald to return to Melbourne  
  April 6th, 2007 Tony arrived to spend part of Easter at Schaanwald. In the evening Tony and Donald dined at "The Victoria Room" of the "Ballarat Lodge." Ian arrived from Garfield to take up residence at Lord Street during Easter.  
           
  April 5th, 2007 A new vehicle was delivered to Schannwald.  
  April 3, 2007 Donald attended a performance of the film "Mr. Bean's Holiday" at the Regent Multiplex Cinemas, Ballarat.  
  March 22, 2007 Donald attended a dinner at "The Inn of Khong" restaurant, Ballarat.
