Another tastefully furnished console this time we have gone entirely for gold.

THE CINEMA ORGAN IN ACTION

Rather than write a whole lot of stuff about the theatre organ - it is far better for you to watch one actually played! Here is a further selection of videos:-
At some theatres the one organ featured two consoles - (one a slave of the other) - this feature was installed at the State theatre Melbourne. Here is a video of 2 organs together -Jelani Eddington & Rob Richards perform Richard Rodgers' "Slaughter On Tenth Avenue" on the 5-manual Moller theatre pipe organ and 5-manual Walker digital theatre organ

Steven Ball playing a brief medley from "The Sound of Music". Live concert recording in Atlanta, GA on a GW4 Allen Organ (A Digital organ which sounds like and very much looks like the real thing.)

In a lot of cases theatre organs had pianos 'attached' to them - either a grand or an upright. This could be played from the piano itself - or from the theatre organ manuals and pedal board. Let us hear now Jim Riggs again as he plays a duet with a player piano roll "Home in Pasadena".

"This Phantom Duet is hot, hot, hot! Just listen to that piano travelling all over the place in the third chorus! One of the catchiest foxtrots around (written by Harry Warren, no less) and Adam Carroll's Ampico arrangement sounds like it was just made to be paired with the Mighty Wurlizer. Plus, it's unbelievably fun to play!"

Note that this organ not only goes up and down, but also rotates! It is also very tastefully decorated if over the top is your style of thing.

In The United Kingdom it was the penchant to place an illuminated surround about the organ which would change colours. Here is one such monstrosity -The Compton Organ at the Plaza Cinema, Stockport.
